Every guitar player knows the Boss DS-1 distortion pedal. It's one of the most common distortion boxes out there, well loved even by the likes of Nirvana. After reading about experiments in circuit bending this pedal on the Casper Electronics website, I had to try it out for myself. I snagged a beat up $20 DS-1 on craigslist and off I went. The mod is really just one switch that puts the pedal into a new mode. It sounds fuzzy, warbly and glitchy. Just the way I like it.
